Don't Let Emotions Run Your Life

March 02, 20232 min read

Recently, I heard an incredible message during a sermon that really stuck with me. It was about the importance of treating your emotions like data. The speaker explained that just like data, emotions should be analyzed and interrogated before we decide to act on them.

Think about it. When we receive data, we don't just accept it blindly. We analyze it and question it to determine if the information is reliable and good enough to use. However, when it comes to our emotions, we often let them control us without giving them a second thought.

The speaker made a great point when he compared emotions to "bad tenants" moving into our home and living there rent-free. Our body is our home, and we should be able to control it and eliminate negativity from it. This is why he encouraged us to promote ourselves to the role of C.I.O. (Chief Interrogator Officer) in our own lives.

What does this mean exactly? It means that we need to start interrogating all negative emotions we feel and evicting all of our "bad tenants." We should start treating our emotions like data by questioning their reliability and analyzing their impact on our lives before allowing them to take over.

Interrogating our emotions can be challenging at first, but it is a vital step towards emotional intelligence and a healthier mental state. By taking the time to reflect on our emotions, we can better understand ourselves and our triggers and ultimately, gain greater control over our lives.

If you're struggling to control your emotions or feel like they're taking over your life, try becoming a C.I.O. of your own emotions. Start interrogating your emotions like data and evict all negative emotions that are holding you back. You have the power to take control of your emotions and ultimately, live a happier and more fulfilled life.
